Moral dilemmas. New York: Oxford Uiversity Press, (OCoLC) Online version: Moral dilemmas. New York: Oxford Uiversity Press, (OCoLC) Document Type: Book: All Authors / Contributors: Christopher W Gowans.   A moral dilemma is described as a decision-making problem between two possible moral imperatives, neither of which is unambiguously acceptable or preferable. The complexity arises out of the situational conflict in which obeying one would result in transgressing another.

The author sets out to show their importance to the purposes and limits of moral theory, to the debate between moral realists and anti-realists, and to policies in areas where moral dilemmas arise.
